In July of 2009,
DisciplesWorld magazine launched The Intersection, as a place to explore "where faith meets life."
We created the site to affirm the inspiration and creativity of readers and others within the faith community. Each month, we received far more excellent material than we were able to publish, so The Intersection was launched as a space for members to post and share their created works directly, without the barriers of editors, deadlines, and print space constraints. We also wanted to find a way for all the great people who were reading the magazine to meet each other and have conversations that matter, on topics large and small.
Although
DisciplesWorld ceased publishing early in 2010, The Intersection continues, with the support of volunteer members and sponsors.
We hope you'll think of this site as your community. As a member, you can customize your page, check out other members' pages, start forum discussions and new groups, upload photos and videos, import your blog or (if you don't have a blog) start one here.
If you've noticed that The Intersection is similar to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and other social networks, you may be asking yourself, why join another one? These sites have a lot to offer, but our goal is to create a more focused, personal, clutter-free place to connect -- a site where people of faith can share information, resources and content. The Intersection is also private network (you must be a member to post or comment), so people tend to behave themselves here. We don't expect to replace Facebook and Twitter, but we want to create something that complements your experiences there.
You can also think of The Intersection as a hub...a place to post original writings, discussions, photos, and videos, but also a place to link to your external projects on the web, and share them with a passionate, engaged community.
Lastly, we invite you to help us develop this site. Feel free to share ideas with Rebecca Woods, the community host. Invite your friends, and include our badge on your external website or blog. Let's grow this community together.
