That sounds awesome to me! BTW, how was the TAT?

I've been doing some thinking, too. For the past two years I have had a Blessing of the Bikes at our church - first year was 26 bikes and the second was 53. So I'm all about trying to bring bikers together. My thoughts are this: how could we form a national motorcycle ministry that has its foundation in the CC(DoC)? Reminiscent to the CMA, but more focused with Disciples churches. Obviously it would have to start small and build, but if we could get the conversation started maybe other riders at other churches could begin chapters at their respective churches/districts/regions. Maybe the Ride for the Chalice you're suggesting could be the beginning of it?

Any thoughts?

A thought, now that winter is hear and us in the north are left to dream of riding and not actually doing much, what if we plan for this summer a church wide rolling rally.
I've done this with several "online" bike groups.
The object is that you take some "token" of your group and then you start on one coast or the other, Top or bottom would work as well, and you ride to meet one another passing the token along. We could get a small chalice and a devotional book that each could write a small devotion in. It is a neat way to at least meat a couple of your fellow riders.

What do the other TWO of you think? This is something we could talk/dream about and get started this Summer and just let it wind it's way back and forth across the country till GA in Nashville.

that sounds like a great time! I just took the trip to Laconia this year with a couple of buddies. It rained every day except one. What a trip!

The TAT is a system of fire roads, gravel roads and dirt trails that run from eastern Tenn to the Oregon Coast. Just under 5 thousand miles. A buddy and I are planning that for a month long (I'm calling it Sabbatical) trip.

My D.Min is in Interim Ministry with a focus on Congregational Crisis.

the saddle sore should be a lot of fun. Haven't heard about the Trans American Trail. What is it?

What focus is your DMin in?

I'm going to Louisville Presbyterian Theol. Seminary.
I'm thinking about doing the 1k saddle sore on the scooter.

Hi, James!

Love the introduction! I currently own two motorcycles: an '05 Road King Custom and an '03 V-Rod. Love the flexibility of having both, but probably going to sell off the V-Rod when I find a buyer. I have owned a '02 Suzuki Intruder Volusia (now the Boulevard C50) which I totaled coming back on a trip to Maryland, and I started on an '87 Yamaha Radian that I restored with an "R" title.

I've been to both Sturgis and Laconia (rode the bike to both trailer weeks).

I'd love to do the Iron Butt, but haven't had any willing participants to this point for the journey.

Where are you working on your D.Min?

I thought I'd introduce myself the way "this" group would appreciate....
My current ride is a Yamaha TMax (Maxi-scooter 500cc) I've only had it for about two months but am really enjoying the whole scooter experience. Prior to that I had a '07 BMW R1200GS, '03 BMW R1200CL, '96 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Delux, '01 Suzuki intruder 800, and my learner a 250 Suzuki GZ.
I'm an Iron Butt rider but haven't ridden one in a couple of years and my next "big" ride is the Trans American Trail with a buddy after I finish my D.Min.
